A Dandridge, Tennessee resident, Chase Pipes has owned and operated the Smoky Mountain Relic Room since 2008. As an extension of the Smoky Mountain Relic Room, Chase Pipes also hosts Chasing History, a YouTube broadcast that features different topics on history, paleontology, archaeology, and geology.
Mr. Pipes operates the largest dealer of historical artifacts, fossils, meteorites, crystals, and minerals from every era and sells them to everyday shoppers and collectors. His interests include global travel to source items, meeting others in his field, and preservation work. Customers can purchase items at the brick-and-mortar shop in Tennessee or online from Amazon and eBay.
Chasing History takes Mr. Pipes to fascinating places in the US and shows viewers the accessibility of history. Locations include dig sites, where archaeology, paleontology, and history professionals discuss the secrets of geological formations in the US, including prehistoric animals that once roamed the Earth. Some of the podcasts feature modern history and Civil War-related topics.
When he is not overseeing the store, Mr. Pipes volunteers to help with construction at state parks, wearing clothes and using tools from the 18th century. He also hikes, canoes, gardens, woodwork, flint knapping, and blow gun making.
